Meet the Team
Mr. WhiteMr. White graduated from Brigham Young University with a BA in Theatre Arts Studies. Additionally, he graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a MS in Education while teaching Special Education on the Big Island of Hawaii, where he also earned a license to teach English/Language Arts. Now Mr. White participates in the Special Education Alternative Route to Licensure program. In his spare time, he enjoys volunteering, cooking, and hiking.

Mrs. VanLeuvenMrs. VanLeuven graduated from the University of Utah with BS in Elementary Education. She join the North Star community in 2008, teaching elementary music, and eventually serving on the Board of Trustees for 4 years. Mrs. VanLeuven is currently continuing her education by participating in the Special Eduction Alternative Route to Licensure Program. She can often be found hiking the mountains of Herriman with her dog, spending time with her husband and 2 children or serving in the community.

Mrs. Doane - Mrs. Doane grew up in Utah and loves the mountains. She has lived in Arizona, Nebraska, and on an Air Force base in South Dakota. This is her 5th year at North Star Academy. She loves DIY projects, hiking, and baking treats. Mrs. Christensen - Mrs. Christensen is starting her 8th year at North Star Academy. She taught pre-school in Riverton for ten years. She has lived in Riverton for 28 years, where she raised four children with her husband of 31 years. She loves to travel anywhere by car, plane, or boat. She reads murder mysteries in her spare time, and is seen frequently at RSL soccer games Mrs. Openshaw - Mrs. Openshaw is excited to start her 3rd year teaching at North Star Academy. She graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Marketing from the University of Phoenix. She has three children whose ages range from 8-12 years old. She enjoys spending time with her family, vacations, long walks, and reading. Mrs. Rosquist - Bio is incoming! |
